Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarship for his parents and a commitment to the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious and Jessie Selmon raised on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football with his three brothers for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was one of the starters for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. The team also took home 2 national titles. Third scholarship he was named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a diploma in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. After graduation, he moved to Tampa and played nine seasons with the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. After that, he began his career. His first job was as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among Ten of America's top young males. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. He was promoted to the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
